Outlook SpamPal Disfunction

I ave Office XP (Outlook 2002) & OE6 on a W2K machine. OL is my default mail
reader and OE is my default news reader. I normally read news after mail by
choosing View\Go To\news on the OL menu bar. The problem is that the
settings to access the incoming mail pop3 server work for OL and for OE if
you opened each on their own but when you go to read news on OE via OL, OE
all of a sudden can't find the incoming pop3 server to log on. The account
settings are OL mail account and OE news account there is no option to put a
mail account on OE as OL is the default mail reader and I believe this is
the problem as I might be required to login to the mail server first.

Without the spam program intercepting the email I can use View\Go To\news in
OL to read news from my NNTP using OE. When I set the spam program to run,
it will get the mail (using OL) but will not get the news when I use View\Go
To\news in OL. My NNTP requires loging in to the incoming pop3 server prior
to getting the news.

I'm not sure I understand the problem - is it with OE not having an email
account when you use Go, News? The News button uses a command line to the
OE program file but adds a switch to load it in news-only mode. You can
create a button to load OE in full mode or a desktop shortcut for news-only.
