Outlook should not misplace and mix up my .pst folders

I tried to move Outlook from my dssktop to my laptop. Now I have more pst
files than I trust. I think that I have lost data. I only want one file
that I can trust. Is there a simple tutorial on maintaining and moving pst
files?
