Outlook should let me get rid of the Favorite Folders pane!!!!!

You would think that with all the "improvements" Microsoft is making to these
programs, that something simple like removing the Favorite Folders pane would
be a piece of cake, but instead, they blithley say in the help section that
you can't get rid of it. You can click on the folder view, but anytime you
go to your calender and back to mail, the Favorites Folder is there again.
It's a small thing, but it is endlessly annoying to me to have this
cluttering up my view.

Why not add some folders to it and use it? If you don't have many favorite
folder's add search folders. It's really handy once you get used to it. (I'd
like to hide the mail list and only use Favorites.)

The Favorite Folders view is redundant. I can see all of my folders in the
"All Mail Folders" view - I don't need them repeated (why on earth would I
need two "Inbox" or "Sent Items" folders inches apart. It's ridiculous.

So, right-click the folders in the Favorites pane and choose "Remove from
Favorite Folders". You'll have a small area saying "Drag Your Favorite
Folders Here", but that will be all.
 
I agree, let us hide the pane (or should that be pain?) Users should
have options, not instructions on how to work around a piece of
unwanted functionality.
 
Try CTRL 6, which will show you only the "all folders" list! You can use the
CTRL "number" command to toggle between mail, calender, tasks, notes, etc.
 
This is a very very old message. Outlook 2007 easily allows you to turn on
or off the Favorite Folders pane in the Mail Navigation.
