Outlook should be able to use other sound file formats like mp3. .

I need long and sometimes loud reminders so I can hear them at the other end
of my shop. being able to use MP3 files would allow a little more variety of
sound files without needing such large files.

Outlook will use any sound Control Panel's Sound applet will allow you to
reference.
