Outlook settings problem

How do I view new mail automatically? I have to hit send/receive button each
time to check for new mail.
 
Mail settings, check for mail every x mins; do not set for less than 10mins

I failed to mention that the new mail does not display when you open the
program either regardless the time of day. It's Outlook 2003.
Also you want the setting for more than 10 mins?
 
If you set to check for less than 10 mins it can cause problems
Not seeing new mail may be as a result of view settings
