outlook send/receive never ends

whenever my outlook 2007 on vista is synchronizing with the exchange server,
it always just stays at 5 seconds remaining, never completes!

There are no errors. I have tried recreating the ost file from scratch same
result. If i click on the progress bar it always says "saving synchronization
log" but never ends.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a new laptop windows Vista with Outlook 2007 and get the same
problem, plus when starting on line also Outlook seams to hang until
cancelling the server requests.

The action that hangs closing the send / receive is it cannot complete save
synchronisation log? How can one correct this?

i have a outlook2003 client running against an exchange2007 server,
stuck at saving synchronisation log ...the outlook2007 clients work
fine against it. only happens with outlook2003 clients and the
exchange2007 server.
