Hello,
Hopefully someone can help me. I keep receiving a Send/Receive Error
from Outlook. I am currently using Outlook 2002 (10.6822.6830) SP3. I am
not sure if this is a mjaor issue, but when I click on Send/Receive it does
iit normal checking for email, then goes right back to the same error message
- Send/Receive Error. Does anyone have any suggestions???

Thanks,

So are you going to actually divulge the error message or is it going
to remain a secret? Do not describe an error message. Do not
summarize an error message. SHOW the error message in its entirety
(although you might want to munge out your e-mail address or username,
if shown). Copy and paste the error message or transcribe it
verbatim. Your description so far is equivalent to walking into a car
shop and saying, "It don't work." Hardly useful in understanding the
problem.

Send/Receive error messages usually have pretty good diagnostic information
in them. Without that information, I am unable to offer any suggestions.

Sorry about the confusion, but when I went to enter the error I hit enter by
mistake. And this is the first chance I had to give you the correct error
message:

Task 'pop.rcn.com - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) :
'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP)
server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

In the e-mail account defined in Outlook, under advanced settings, up
the timeout value.

Disable e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. If it doesn't let
you disable e-mail scanning then uninstall the product and then
reinstall but select to perform a custom install and do NOT include
e-mail scanning. Scanning e-mail duplicates the detection of the
on-access scanner. There is no added protection but detection may be
a bit earlier.

Looks like upping the timeout did the trick for now. I will continue to
monitor it, and if it happens again, then I will disable the email scanning.
Thanks for your assistance....
