outlook runs faster when outlook express is running. why?

Hi
When i am running outlook, and when i select a message, there is a
delay of about 5 seconds for the message to appear in the preview
pane.
now if i open outlook express, keep it open, and go back to select
messages in outlook, the messages appear immediately in the preview
pane.
what could be the problem.

is there a way to make outlook respond faster without having to run
outlook express simultaneously with it?

i tried to change that setting, and it is still the same....
any other ideas?

never mind.
it seems disabling msn messenger integration also has the same effect
so i just went to the tools menu in outlook, under options -> other, and
disabled the msn messenger integration, and all worked fine.
