outlook rules not saved

I have a client that has a rule created to reply with a specific template for
out of office, when you turn the rule off and then come back into rules and
alerts it has deleted the rule rather than deactivated tit. Hence you have
to create the rule all over again!!!

I have deleted and reloaded office 2007 with no change!

Hi dunners,

does your client work with an Exchange Server or with a local PST file?

If he works with an Exchange Server I found this website for Outlook 2003:

"How to delete corrupted and hidden rules from a single mailbox in Outlook
2003"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924297/en-us

I never tried this by myself, so I can not say anything about this website.

Outlook safe all rules in ".rwz" files. Do you have a complete permission on
this "folder" where this "rwz" files are stored?
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000457.htm

Do you have write and delete permission on this folder?

Maybe it helps.
