outlook rules and alerts stop working

We have both server and client rules in effect in Outlook 2007. We have
exchange and pop3 email accounts. Periodically the rules just stop working.
Re-creating the rule and deleting the rule that is not working fixes the
problem, but that's rather annoying.

Anyone have any idea how to remedy this?

I have a user who is experiencing the same problem. Apparently after a few
days of normal operation, the rules will just stop working and no emails will
be sorted. Setting up new rules in place of the old one's offers only a
temporary solution. Thank you for any help.
