Outlook Rule -"with specific words in the sender's address" help?

I have an Outlook Rule setup to act on emails coming in"with specific words
in the sender's address" -- eg "gmail" (no quotes) in the persons address.

When I have criteria turn on -- no action is taken -- like it can't match up
"gmail" -- i turn it off and my reply email is generated correctly...

The docs are pretty clear -- but it just doesnt' seem to work...any ideas?
