Outlook requires a password but none has been set

Hi,
I upgraded to Office 2007 only to find that Outlook is asking for a password
for the pst file. I've never set a password on it before. Since then, Outlook
is launching in secure mode as it says it was there was an issue with a file.
I cant get it back to normal.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Kathleen,
Thanks for that, unfortunatley it fails, with an error. I tried running it
as administrator and got a different error. That error says to san the file
with Scanpst. I did that, errors were found and fixed but the password screen
still appears and Outlook is still in secure mode which is very hard to deal
with.
Thanks again,
Jonathan

Kathleen,
The second scan found no errors, neither did the third.
Running pst19upg produces this:
C:\>pst19upg -x "C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst"

Exporting: C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst (version
19)
to: C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.psx

Could not open PST file
C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
ERROR 0x80040119

Program terminated in error (80040119)

Thanks,
Jonathan

It seems almost as if your PST is being held open by something. Make sure you
have Word closed and that neither Word nor Outlook are running in the
processes.

Try running Detect and Repair from the Help Menu. Note that you will likely
need your Office media handy for this.

Kathleen,
I'm off home now, I'll try the detect and repair when I get there as the
media is there as well.
Thanks,

Kathleen,
Detect and Repair has detected no errors with Office or Outlook.
I'm collecting POP mail from my ISP.
Thanks,

Kathleen,
A new profile stopped Outlook asking for a password, but Outlook will not
launch in anything other than secure mode. Half way there.
Thanks for your help,
Jonathan

It's a good idea to create a new profile after upgrading to Outlook 2007. If
it's a new, clean install there's no need.
I would create a new PST and use that, add your old PST as a personal folder
and either keep it that way or drag and drop your emails, contacts, calendar,
mail, etc. to the new PST.
Let me know if that helps.

Kathleen,
I created a new profile, set it to be the default and launched Outlook. It
still launched in secure mode. I dragged the emails from the other profile
over to the new one, deleted the old profile and pst files (having taken a
copy). On restart I'm still stuck in secure mode.
Thanks again for your help.
