Outlook remembers my poor spelling in To: field

I'm having a problem getting rid of a bad email address that I typed in the
Outlook 2007 email message. I hit the send button and the email bounced back
to me. After looking at the address I noticed that I typed it incorrectly. I
never added this address to my contacts but every time I type an address
that is similar, the bad address keeps coming back. Does anyone know how to
get rid of this address once and for all. I've looked in Outlook Contacts,
BCM Contacts and my Address Book. It is nowhere to be found. ??

Thanks in advance.

When you start typing and the address comes up, use the arrow keys on the
keyboard to arrow down to the selection (if it isn't already highlighted)
and hit the delete key.

Thanks fh

I've done that but everytime I start another new email and type a address
similar that same name just keeps coming back. Like I said Outlook remembers
it someplace and I would like to get rid of it once and for all.

Well, if it shows up the exact next time, it makes me think you're not doing
it right. Just to make sure, you aren't touching the mouse at all, correct?

You can get rid of everything by looking for the *.nk2 file that is named
after your profile. Just make sure that you're searching hidden and system
files and folders. Just rename the file after exiting Outlook. You might
want to verify permissions on the file, make sure it's not read-only....
Are you getting new entries appearing?

Good morning,

I checked my system for a .nk2 file and found none. Outlook seems to keep a
list of email addresses that were recently used even though they are not in
any of your contact lists. I would compare it to the recent files list that
you would find in the other Office products. When you send an email to
someone the email address you typed is save to that list. Deleting it from
the "To:" field on the New Message form will not delete it from that list.
It only deletes it from the To field. I have found that this list seems to
only keep a specific number of addresses and the older ones that haven't
been used are automatically removed over time.

I just find it annoying that you can't just get rid of it the first time.

Thanks again

Yes, it does. It stores them in the nk2 file. It's on your machine.
Believe me, it's there. You might not have found it, but it is there.

And deleting it from the drop down list *SHOULD* on a normally operating
install remove it from that file. Works 100% fine on mine.

You were right. I missed the step about searching hidden folders. I renamed
the nk2 file and restarted Outlook. Problem solved!

Thanks
