regarding keys 001e6603 001e6612; what is their purpose?

I upgrade from exchange55 -> exchange2003. My outlook clients that had
profiles with exchange55 didnot work.
By deleting these keys the client seemed to refresh its settings. Would
anyone know the method it uses for doing this.

thx jason

The 001e tells you that these are both string properties. Looking at an existing profile, it's easy to see that the first one is the user's distinguished name, while the second is the DN for the Exchange server. When moving from Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003, you need to modify the client mail profile to point it to the new server. Microsoft provides a tool called ExProfRe to manage this; see MSKB article 873214.

Are the clients also being upgraded to Outlook 2003? If so, you may want to skip using ExProRe and instead create and deploy a .prf file to create an entirely new mail profile. That will ensure that users get the new Unicode-format .ost file.
