Outlook PST mailbox

Hi, How do I set up an outlook account with my old pst file that won't create
a second mailbox when I'm done?

Whenever I create an email account from scratch you can select a pst file,
but it always creates a new ost file at the end of the wizard, and because of
that *I think* it creates a second mailbox. In datafile management, it
doesn't let you remove the ost, because it is associated with the email
account.

I have tried changing the permission settings on the second mailbox, and
then hitting delete, but no matter what it keeps telling me I don't have
permission to delete it.
I am connected to an exchange server.

No, you still have only 1 mailbox. A pst-file is just an additional folder
set to store Outlook data in. You cannot have an Exchange account
configuration with only a pst-file.

If I only have 1 mailbox, why are there two there? And even if its not a
mailbox, how do I get rid of the bottom one?

As I said; that is an additional storage location. You are on the Data Files
tab.
Select your Exchange storage location, press the Default button and restart
Outlook as instructed.
After that you can remove the connection to the pst-file via the Remove
button.

No, I don't want to remove the connection to the pst... I want the exchange
location to use the pst if that makes sense. There are alot of contacts and
archived emails that I can't loose, and would like to have them in outlook
still, yet not have the two deals on the left.

AFAIK Exchange can't use a pst file.

Only one store can be the default store and the Exchange mailbox is the
better choice. Leave the PST file as a secondary store on your folder
list.

Yeah, except for that my mailbox has a size limit, and I *need* to have a pst.

Heres what I've tried to do since I wrote this. I removed the PST, then I
imported the pst, then I took my pst folders and had them archive all the
emails back to the pst. Its still not working right though because the
mailbox is still too big on the exchange server.
