Outlook PST Files - Locked while copying

Hello,

I have developped a tool base upon VB Script and Robocopy to ensure a
(almost) real-time backup of user datas. Works fine.

The only issue I met, which is in fact, really common, is that when I try
copy PST files and when Outlook is opened, PST loaded files in OLK are of
course locked.

- Does anyone know a registry tip to tell Outlook no to lock those files ?
- Or, a command line tool used to unlock unlocked files ?
- Anything usefull to go round this secured, but anoying behaviour ?

You need to close outlook before copying the psts. There is no reg hack to
unlock them - outlook requires a lock. I have used a batch file to copy the
pst before outlook is open - I replace the outlook shortcut users typically
used with the batch and when it finished copying the pst, it opened outlook.

that backs them up on exit - it's sometimes a PITA.

Thanks to all of you.

I found a technique based upon Volume Shadow Copy Service, more particularly
upon a tool within the VSCS SDK 7.2 : vshadow.exe.
