Outlook profile moving

Not sure if this is the right group, but I'm having a problem with the
transfer preferences and files wizard. When I run it on a machine with users
who use outlook, their pst files don't get recognized in the new setup, even
thought the computer is the same computer (I'm migrating to a Windows 2003
server as PDC and have to change domains for all users) The upshot is that
when I open the user's new profile they either cannot access the old pst file
or can access it, but it is empty. The pst file itself is 800mb.

I really need to get this user access to their old pst file. Any help would
be appreciated

This is not the right solution, but if it is an emergency you could copy the
old pst file (or a backup of it if it has been overwritten) to a location
the user can access, then open outlook and import all fields from the old
file.

Thanks for your quick reply. Although I support the computers here, I'm not
an outlook user in any sense of the word. Could you be more specific about
how you import the settings?

Thanks

Do NOT import a pst (personal Folder File) as it can lead to data loss.

With OL closed on old PC copy to new PC, Locate anywere on the HD - if
copied via cdr ensure read only is off - Then in OL File>Open>Data
File.....browse to location
Either set this pst as default or copy data (drag & drop) to new pst (within
OL)

I did this. I logged in as the "new" user and went to file open and I get a
blank file. Does this mean that they've lost everything?!

Is the pst you are opening still 800mb?
Properties of the Personal Folder should tell you (within OL)

Windows Explorer shows it as still over 800mb.
