Major Malfunction
I posted on this previously and thought I'd give an update.
In brief: I am running Outlook 2000 on a Windows 2000 computer w/SP3. Until
recently, about eight weeks ago, everything was fine. Now, if I send e-mail
I still see Outlook in Task Manager Processes even though the application is
gone from my view and the Applications pane in Task Manager. This is
annoying because unless I terminate the process, my computer continues to
receive mail, but without the benefit of filtering.
What I've done so far: I have scanned both computers with several different
virus scanners, virus scanned over the network from another clean machine,
checked the registry manually for any signs of strange entries, scanned both
computers manually and with a search-bot looking for spyware / parasite
programs. All is clean. I have tried Detect and Repair without any change in
activity. So far, no one has contacted me about strange e-mail from my
computers, so I presume nothing is going out, only coming in.
Short of uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook, does anyone have any
suggestions? It's not that I'm opposed to doing that, but I'd like to know
what's going on.
Thanks!
