Outlook on Vista

My previous question, "MS Office on Vista" did not answer my most important
question. It solved my problem in that I can install Office in a separate
directory. Howver, since my original installation of Outlook acts as my
e-mail instrument, configured to connect with my ISP with userid and
password, are there any files that I can copy to my new installation that
will save this configuration as well as all the e-mails I currently have in
Outlook that is saved in various folders. I probably need someone from
Microsoft to answer this question but any help will be appreciated.

The MS employees here certainly are Outlook users. But none are technical
support for Office. This is a Windows group. If you were using a windows
product then the answer is yes. Office - who knows.

Find your old "outlook.pst" file and copy into the location of your new
"outlook.pst" file. Take the precautionary step of renaming your newer
outlook.pst file first so as to not destroy it when you copy the old over
the new. Then open your new Outlook and try again.

I don't have whatever your original problem was with Outlook, however, your
statement that you have two installations of Outlook on your machine worries
me. I think it should only be one.

You can always export your current account settings from your old Outlook to
Windows Mail. Then after installing the new version, export them to the new
Outlook. If you save your '.pst' file, you will not need to import/export
the messages. Just select your old '.pst' file and your default message
repository.
