Outlook not responding While creating new email

when i use microsoft office outlook 2003, and i start or reply a mail. my
outlook locks up and does not responde anymore. the only way to end outlook
is by using the task manager.

it keeps happening more and more. i recently cleaned up mij email files but
is did not make a difference. can anybody help me.
