I am using Outlook 2003. Weather I have "Hide when Minimized" enabled or
not, I can not double-click on the system tray icon to open Outlook anymore.
It use to work. I have even gone so far as to remove and reinstall Office.
Does anyone know how to get this working again?

Thanks

Look for a 3rd party applications/addins that integrate/use Outlook data.
One of them is blocking Outlook from opening correctly.

I only had 2 programs installed Acrobat 7 and Dymo Lable maker. I did remove
both before removing and installing Office again. but it still doesn't work.
I can right-click and select "Open Outlook" but I just can't double click to
open.

Restart your computer and then logon. Bring up the task manager and watch
your process list to see if outlook.exe gets added to the list. (thinking
antivirus/antispam/instant messaging might be starting outlook behind the
scenes)

Hello!

I have the same problem with outlook tray icon and I haven't got any add-ons
in my outlook!
When I tried to to use outlook in different account, it worked fine, but it
doesn't want to work in my account.

Is there any problem with registry?

Thanks for your answers!

Best,

Anze

I found a solutions :)

You have to do this:
This is one of the things that isn't all that easy but
once you learn how it becomes easier the more you do it.
go>start\run and type in regedit and click ok. Now follow
this route clicking the + beside the entries in this order
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrenVersion/
Explorer/TrayNotify left click on the last entry to open
the sub keys in the right panel. Now in the right panel
locate IconStreams value name and right click on it and
delete it.Now close out of regedit. Right click on the
task bar and click Task manager and then click the
processes tab. Right click on explorer.exe and click end
process. Now on the tool bar click File\New task and type
in explorer and press ok. This is rather in depth so you
should write or print these instructions. Keep smiling.

or here is the script

Remove Past Items From the Notification Area (Line 53)
