Outlook not downloading new G Mail headers

E

eli

Hello:

My Outlook Express is no longer downloading G Mail headers when I request
this via Tools-->Send/Receive. The last headers it downloaded were from
Friday May 5. There have been many new G Mails received since, and I have
POP enabled for GMail with the settings G Mail recommends.

What might be causing this problem , and how might I remedy it?

Thanks in advance:

Eli

My Apologies:

The problem was with Microsoft Outlook 2003 , not with Outlook Express as I
had originally posted

Thanks William:

My seetings for this G Mail POP account are as shown in the configuration
link you posted:

<<<
Here is the config:

I checked at the G Mail web settings and POP is still enabled. The TEST
Account option at Outlook ran successfully, but the TEST GMail arrived at
the web-based account and wasnt downloaded at Outlook 2003. My settings are
such as to allow copy on server even if downloaded via POP.

Wonder why this week's headers arent being downloaded via Microsoft
Outlook...

Addendum:

I tried downloading the inbox [not just the headers] and got the following
error message:

"Task 'GMail - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210C) : 'Some messages you
marked for download are no longer available on the server.'"

I dont know why i'm getting this error message; many gmails are viewable on
the server when i access it via web, but arent being downloaded via POP.

William Lefkovics [MVP]" asked:

"Can you get the messages with Outlook Express?"

================

Essentially, no.

OE 6 goes through a legthy download called:

Checking messsages from G Mail: "Receiving list of messages from server"

This is followed by :
"Receiving Message _of 258" with an increasing series of numbers up to 258

supposedly of >2 Megs. But when the download is completed, no G Mail
earlier than two weeks ago is in fact downloaded.

I noticed something simlar in the Microsoft Outlook download for the
headers. during the downlaod, im toldthat ~120Kb is beingdownloaded, but
when its complete, no messages newer than last week are in the Inbox.

I do see many at the gmail website though. But I can't POP them.

[I no longer am getting that MS Outlook error message I had posted earlier]

Thanks again:

Really poor naming by the vendor.

In Tools-->Account Settings
You may have to select the account and select Edit (or change, I forget
which it is).
Is there a 'Test' account settings button.

Does that return an error when it goes to fetch from pop.gmail.com?

Did POP get disabled on the GMail side?
