what can we do to correct this?

David C. Holley

Yes that's perfectly normal. If they open it, it should add it automatically
to their calendar. Each Calendar/Contacts program stores its items using its
own unique format (for lack of a better way of putting it). In order to
allow for information to be shared, vCard and iCalendar files allow for the
data to be sent between programs. The files contain the critical data
neccessary to export/import the Contact or Calendar item.
