Outlook just shuts

We have Outlook workstations, but an Exchange server.
Sometimes when I am clicking on Read Receipts,
particularly from external email accounts, Outlook will
just shut down - no prompts, no error message, no
nothing. I then have to restart Outlook and if I go to
the same Read Receipt, I have no problem.
 
Is there anything logged to the Event Viewer regarding this?

This you could try already;
-repair Office; insert the CD and choose repair
-rename outcmd.dat to outcmd.old; this will reset the Toolbar
-recreate the mail profile; Control Panel-> Mail-> button Show Profiles...
