I must have checked a box inadvertently, because recently when I directly
open Outlook, if there's any mail pending d'load from my ISP (I usually open
it via Mailwasher) it automatically d'loads it straight into Outlook.
Does anyone know which box I may have checked to cause this?

tools, send/receive - find the define send and receive option and remove the
check from the option to check every xx min.

Well, I've checked Send/Receive messages (under General) & everthing is
unchecked, including check for messages every --- !
Also, under Tools/Send Receive, I have Send & Receive all, Receive all, Send
All - if I click on any, the box just closes.

Help, Dianne!

You must be using Outlook Express, because in Outlook, under tools, there is
a 'send and receive settings' below 'send and receive'. When you go in
there, you are able to define the send and receive groups.

There is no General in Outlook....

Find and delete the SRS file for your profile - the crashes indicate it's
corrupt. Use the advanced search option to find all hidden files and folders
and search for *.srs
