When I type e-mails the program seems to stall. It also pauses before it
will let me select buttons on toolbar or pull down menus

You should include in your message what version of Outlook you
are using.

I will include the information I usually send to someone using Outlook
2002 and above:

1.. Turn off "instant messaging" Q290025 (See quick instructions below)
2.. Uncheck all planner options per article Q324374 (See quick Info below)

1) OL2002: Delay Occurs When You Open a Message in Outlook 2002 with Instant
Messaging Enabled
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290025

Remove the link between Outlook 2002 and MSN Messenger, perform the
following steps:

1. Start Outlook.
2. From the Tools menu, select Options.
3. Select the Other tab.
4. Clear the "Enable Instant Messaging in Microsoft Outlook" check box in
the Instant Messaging section, then click OK.
5. Close and restart Outlook for the change to take effect.

2) OL2002: You Receive the "Cancelable RPC" Dialog Box When You Use the
Meeting
Planner Options
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324374
a.. Turn off the Show Popup Calendar Details option or the Show Calendar
Details in Grid option.

I have the same problem and did the suggested things to resolve but it does not solve the problem. Does anyone know what this delay response is being caused from?

Thanks Nikki - this seems to be a popular issue. I am on Office 2003, and
the text will not show up in an email message until I quit typing. This
started happening about 8 days ago. I have run the Adware and Spyware
programs to see if it was a keylogger, but nothing critical showed up. I also
run with McAfee Security.
Thx for any assistance.

Same problem as what? You didn't quote the message to which you believed
you were responding.

My instant messaging was already off and all planner options were unchecked.
I did the outlook/tools/security/Security Zones where you change to
"internet" and that seems to work for one day before you have to do it again.
Does anyone know what the real cause to this issue is?
