Outlook is slow and not recieving e-mail when program is not open

Hello,

I have having problems with Outlook 2003 starting up very slow. The eindow
pops up and I can see the folder list to the left, but it takes forevery to
see the main section of the program. Why is it doing this? I have the
AutoArchive feature on so i think it is archiving all my old mail.

Another thing...Outlook won't recieve any new mail if I don't phyically have
the program open. I have it set to send/recieve every one minute on and
offline. So why is it not doing this? When I open Outlook (after the long
wait) it sends and recieves fine, but it won't do that unless I open the
program. Please Help.

Why would you think it could work when it isn't running? It won't.

As others have pointed out, Outlook cannot receive mail unless it's
open.

Also, a one minute polling interval is unrealistic. Changing it to
check for new messages every ten minutes is more realistic and will
work better for you (and your mail server).

Why would you think it could work when it isn't running? It won't.

Then what is the point of a desktop notification??????? If I have to
accually open the program to find out I have new mail, why would I care that
it can notify me when i open it and can see for myself in the actual program?

What kind of mail accounts do you use, and how big is your PST file if you

I have 3 POP accounts. It is located in the default location and it hasn't
created one becasue it isn't archiving anything yet. I don't know why, but it
hasn't. I have it set to archive things older than a month to a PST file, but
it isn't doing it.
