I just reinstalled Vista 32.

In Outlook 2003, Tools-Options-Other Outlook is checked as my default email
client.
In set your default programs Outlook is not an option to choose.
In Set Program Access and Computer Defaults, the default email program is
"Use my current email program" Outlook is not an option, only Mail.

When I click on an email address in a web link, it opens Mail.

try this:
1.
Click the Windows Start button, and then click Run.

2.
Type outlook.exe /checkclient. If your computer can't find Outlook, you'll
have to type the complete path to your Outlook.exe file, enclosed in quotes
(for instance, "C:/Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\outlook.exe"),
followed by a space, and then /checkclient. You can use the Find Files or
Folders utility on the Start menu to find outlook.exe.

3.
Click OK. Outlook starts and opens a message box indicating which services
are not currently managed by Outlook, and asking if you would like Outlook
to manage these by default. For example, if Outlook has no default priority,
the message is: "Outlook is not currently your default manager for Mail,
News, and Contacts. Would you like to register Outlook as the default
manager?"

4.
Click Yes if you'd like all the options to be managed by default;
otherwise, click No.

You have to set Outlook in Program Defaults in Vista. Default Programs is on
the Start Menu.

Please see what I wrote at the beginning. I stated that Outlook doesn't
appear. So I can't assign it as the default.

In fact, I just reinstalled Vista 32 completely, twice, and both times the
same problem existed after I reinstalled Office.

I'm also having the same issue. I cannot find the entry under default
programs or even trying to change in the custome mode.

Please advise

Thanks

After 6 Vista installs, my Outlook is now the default at least for when I
click on an email address in an html file or on the web. Even though it
still doesn't show up in default programs. However, the URL Mail to
Protocol, Outlook is now listed as the default. Previously, I couldn't
unclick it because it was greyed out with the default to Mail.

You know for a program that I spent $250 for (Vista 64 Ultimate) this sure
is extremely buggy and incomplete. And 64 is a waste because you have no
links between outlook's address file and Fax and Scan. And because Fax and
Scan is not compatible with XP's Fax so I can't see the headers and subject
for all my 2,000 odd old faxes from XP. And Shockwave doesn't work with it,
among others.

And when you have a problem during the first 90 days, I end up talking to
Indians that have trouble understanding me and vice-versa. For a company
with almost as much money as God, this whole experience is really disgraceful.
