Outlook is hanging in its recovery program

Hi
I am running Office 2007 professional on XP. It has been running on this
laptop for about 2 years. Today I began receiving 'Microsoft Office Outlook
has encountered a problem and cannot exit.' The message appears to be coming
from Microsoft Office Program Recovery. SP1 is on. When I shut down recently
updates were put on but I don't know what they were for.
Outlook comes up but after about 2 clicks it hangs with an hourglass and
then when I try to X out I get the error message above.

This is my business computer so I really need my Outlook. Does anyone have
any ideas?

Thanks

You can within IE run windows update & review your update history
Have you tried Office Diagnostics?
