Outlook interfering with Windows Mail

I am using Windows Mail but I think my Outlook 2007 is getting in the way. As
follows:
1. If I click on an address inside an email to create a new email then
despite my being in Windows Masil it pops up as an Outlook email.
2. If I click on address on a website it defaults to my Outlook
2. And some addresses do not appear when I begin to type them despite the
fact that they are in Windows Mail address book, I assume because they are
duplicatess from my Outlook address book, though I can't find them there.
etc etc.

How do I disable Outlook and just stick with Windows Mail (which is not half
as good as Outlook Express but alas, with Vista, can now not be used)

Vedry he;lpful - thanks. Can you also help on the other problem: when I
start to type in an addresss, even though I have ticked "Automatically
complete email addresses.." it only happens with some of the addresses in my
contacts book. Any ideas?

Windows Mail does not use your contacts for autocomplete, it has a small
cache of the last 29 addresses you send email to. Moving to Windows Live
Mail will solve that problem.

That is known as the auto-complete feature. It doesn't work very well in
Windows Mail. It doesn't use the contacts but uses a separate list of
the last 29 recipients you've sent mail to.
If you want it to work better, upgrade to Windows Live Mail. It uses the
complete contacts list for auto-completion.

Or, simply using Outlook as it is intended to be used will clear up
your problem.

Either stop using Windows Mail, or set it as the default E-mail
program in Vista.

Windows Mail does not use Outlook's Contacts in any case (unless they
are imported into WM), as far as I know. At least, it hasn't done so
yet in my installation of Vista. Maybe it does in yours.
