On a "Reply" email, Outlook suddenly inserts my name in
brackets when I hit the Enter Key, whenever I am editing
an error I have made in the text of my email. Does
anybody know how to stop this? Thanks. ann

Post your Outlook version and the editor you are using.

Thanks. It's 2000 and Word.

Then open Word.
Tools > Options > General > E-mail Options... > Personal Stationery >
Clear the "Mark my Comments" checkbox.
