Outlook initially slow to open HTML

When I first open Outlook 2003 and open any HTML email, it takes about 30 secs to do so irrespective
of how the "download pictures" is set. Now if I open another HTML email (or close and re-open the
original) there is no delay.
If I close and reopen Outlook, again, the first HTML email takes about 30 secs then subsequent ones
are normal.
I have the reading pane "off"
Does anyone have the same problem or a solution?

I have the same problem. It is weird.

I managed to find out that if it takes a long time even if you close
and then open the same HTML email again (or another one) the problem is
due to... IE7. You must not turn off the new phishing filter. So I
managed to solve the problem by turning it on, which is the default.
However, now I have the same problem you have. Let us see if we can
solve this damn thing.

Yes I found one post by another user saying blame IE7 but only one ... which struck me as a bit
strange!
I use Opera so I will have a look at IE7.

Desiderio ...
I looked at your link but, because I have the reading pane turned off and so don't open messages
automatically but need to double-click them, I felt it could not apply to me.
I spent an hour changing Outlook settings but it did not help.
So I tried, as you suggest, opening Outlook in Outlook Today (Personal Folders) instead of the
Inbox.
It works!
I agree that that is stupid!
I apologise for doubting you!
I notice that Outlook Today takes 2 seconds to open (slight pause) but now the first HTML email
opens instaneously instead of taking 14 seconds (long pause) so I gain 12 seconds (though I do have
an extra keypress)

Thanks!

Dear Pat

Yep, it is crazy as hell, but it works. I am doing that myself now. I
hope someone will be able to find another solution to this.

Try this, go into your IE7 options, under the advanced tab, under
security, turn on automatic website checking under the phising filter
section. restart outlook. Tada!

We found this problem was only when 'replying to html mail'

Try this, go into your IE7 options, under the advanced tab, under
security, turn on automatic website checking under the phishing filter
section. restart outlook. Tada!
