Outlook Inbox changed appearance

Several days ago I opened Outlook and the appearance of the Inbox folder had
changed and I got a window to "Report the error to Microsoft" which I did. My
Inbox now looks like my Deleted Items folder or Sent Items folder, meaning a
full screen. I lost the "From: To: and Subject:" on the lower half of the
screen. Restore works for a few days and then I get the report an error sceen
and I lose the lower half of the Inbox screen again. I uninstalled MS Office
which includes Outlook and reinstalled it. Still the same problem. Can anyone
help and did I receive a virus without knowing it? Nothing in View seems to
change the Inbox folder. When I uninstall Outlook and reinstall, all the
setting remain the same.

Try starting Outlook one time with the /cleanviews switch. If that does not work, then try a new mail profile. (Control Panel->Mail Icon->Profiles->Add)

Thanks Mary & Milly Staples. I tried all and no change. I think a virus may
by changing my Views settings every 3 or 4 days? I uninstalled MS Office XP
and reinstalled it and all my settings were still there. I wonder why I can't
do a complete uninstall to include all files and registry entries and then
reinstall. Reinstall seems to want to keep certain files. I use Norton
antivirus and keep it updated, that should have caught a virus or worm?
Thanks again.

Norton can miss things - I would try an online scanner like Trend Micro Housecall http://www.trendmicro.com/hc_intro/default.asp

To start with a fresh Outlook file with no information, rename the outlook.pst to .old. When it complains, create a new one.
