The icons in the outlook shortcut for journal, calendar, tasks, inbox, etc
have been incorrectly allocated during installation. Can I change them so
that the generic icons correspond to the correct outlook folder? Very
annoying.

Where exactly are you looking? What version of Outlook are you talking
about?

HI - Microsoft Office XP Professional bundle 2003. Outlook shortcut panel down the left hand side of the page has icons representing tasks, journal, etc. Standard icons included default group.
