Outlook Icon missing on desktop

Outlook 2003 does not create an icon on the desktop. We feel that most users
will complain about that following this article
http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/20031111.htm. It does create an icon.
I'm also getting error messages when I right click on the icon. Any ideas
how I can create the icon without creating the errors? The solution will
either need to be a reg key fix or something I can use with Office 2003
custom install wizard?

Also, when I uninstall Office 2003, the icon doesn't get removed. This is
with SP2 installed. Also, I have seen error message right clicking on the
icon with a machine with SP2.

Did this step work for you?

A tip from a reader: "If you receive errors, try changing the default value
under {00020D75-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} to 3. The change of the
default value stopped the errors here on the few machines running Outlook
2003."
