Outlook hangs when I start it. I have Office Pro
w/frontpage. I've uninstalled, reinstalled and updated
w/SP3 all to no avail. The task manager shows 2 Outlook
icons not responding, I presume the program and the
send/receive thingy. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Try opening Outlook using the ".../CleanViews" switch. The
link below will give you the instructions on how to use it.

OL2002: Additional Command-Line Switches

Also try (if the above doesn't work):

Close outlook, find and delete all these files in a single attempt:

outcmd.dat
extend.dat
frmcache.dat

Then launch outlook.

(If using Windows 2000 or XP, you will need to enable searching
hidden and system folders.)

Then if still not working, try:

Look for the "Inbox Repair Tool" in
Start | Programs | Accessories |System Tools

If you don't find it there, just perform a find on your hard drive
for "SCANPST.*". This will bring up both the executable and
the Helpfile that accompanies it.

If you run this tool and are still having problems, open the link
below and try using that.

Your mailbox may have gotten oversized. Below are the size limits for
a PST file that holds Outlook email.

OLK - PST Limitations

From: (e-mail address removed)

File Size: 2GB max (reads about 1.92GB in Explorer)

Large Table Support not Enabled (Default)
* 16,000 folders
* 16,000 items per folder

Large Table Support Enabled
* 65,000 folders
* 65,000 items per folder

To enable Large Table support, right click on Personal Folders and select
properties. Select Advanced. Check the box to enable large table support
and select OK until you return to the main window.
