How do I lower the size of outlook.pst after I near the 2
gig limit? I permanently deleted files but did not
affect the size of .pst very much.

Have you tried compacting it? How you do that depends upon what version
of Outlook you have but if you go into help and look for "Compact PST"
you should find the instructions.
