Im not sure if anyone can answer this or not. Can you set
up Outlook Express to notify you of a new email while
Outlook Express itself is closed. I know if you leave the
application running, you can set it to notify. I wanted
to no if you must leave Outlook Express running in order
to be notified of a new email. Any help would be
apprecitaed. Thanks.

It seems to me that if the program (OE) is not running, it
is unable to query your mail server, thus no email will be
sent to it. Perhaps someone will have a workaround.

Is this your hotmail account that you're talking about ?
Hotmail can be received without running Outlook
Express . . . just type in (at the Address line in
Internet Explorer) hotmail.com

Good Luck !

IIRC there is a separate app (messenger?) that will tell you if you have new
mail.
