and using their computer, i couldn't check my e-mail. i was totally lost,
and i didn't want to re-configure their outlook express account. i have
hi-speed, and they had dial-up.did that have anything to do with it? thanks
for you help in advance.

Create the account in Outlook Express
Use their mail server as the outgoing
Use your mail server as the incoming example mail.yourserver.com
On the general tab check mark 'include this account when receiving or..."

Now your mail should be downloaded as theirs is in their inbox......
Simply delete the account when your ready to leave.

thanks for the quick reply, cherokeecandy, i'll certainly give it a try next
time. but isn't it impolite or inappropriate to open someone else's in box? i
know it's a relative, and perhaps they won't mind, but what if it's a
friend's computer who might mind if i open their in box?

In this case... go to your isp server and get your mail online..... simply
login and read your mail there.. including reply if you desire or write new
ones...... on any computer with internet access.....
