outlook express won't open

I have office 2000 and when I try to open Outlook Express e-mail will not
load. The hourglass just keeps going and never stops and eventually I have to
do "control alt delete". Any suggestions??

Outlook EXPRESS is not part of Office. What are you really using? (Do
Help-About in your email client...)

Pretty hard to do when the complaint is that the program won't open.
Knee-jerk responses are rarely good ones.
