Outlook Express - Subject line problem

For the past few days I have been receiving a "paperclip" in the left column
on the subject line of most of my e-mails, even when there is no
attachment. There is no "paperclip" at the far right end of the subject
line. I've been told that an e-mail I've sent, without an attachment also
had a "paperclip" in the left column. I tried sending an e-mail that I had
received, that did not have the "paperclip" problem to myself, and it came
back the way it should have - without the "paperclip". I am puzzled. Do
you have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

This may be because the "Attachment" column is not active. Right-click
the grey header bar and select "Columns" to re-enable it.
