Outlook Express &MSN

On both Outlook Express and MSN, I seem to be getting
shaded icons for the paperclip etc. Used restore on XP
and all okay, but then could not get Office updates.
Therefore reverted back to initial problem with the
shaded icons. I can only think of uninstalling Internet
Explorer, whcih will delete Outlook Express and start
again, but can not see how to uninstall INternet Explorer
on XP. Any clues

On the outlook Express application, in the inbox, I have
headings to the e-mails. The headings to the columns are
exclaimation mark, paperclip, flag, from, subject,
receive date. The first three are dark black icons with
shadows, rather than clear icons. Also on the actual e-
mail list the opened envelope is black and shaded. I
wonder if the Outlook Express Apllication has got
corrupted some how during one of the MS updates for IE6.
I have tried to uninstall the IE6, but it is not listed
on the add/remove programmes on the control panel and it
will not allow me to add the programme again as the
current version is newer.
