Greetings, For years my email and news group messages have line wrapped at
76 characters. I know this setting can be changed, but is there a way to
configure Outlook Express to wrap text at the end of the window so that as
the window size is changed the text wrap changes with it?

If this is not possible, is there a standard line length used by most
people? Thanks Don

The outlook express line wrap is the source of much angst amongst veteran
usenet users, as is Outlook Express' default "top-posting" responses (I am
top-posting right now).

As far as I know, and I am by no means an authority on the issue, there are
two approaches you can take. You could download the free OE Quote-Fix,
which is _usually_ pretty good about reformatting the line-wraps and
bottom-posting (if you care).

I hope this helps...

Launch Outlook Express and from the Toolbar select:
Tools > Options > Send.
Under "News Sending Format", click on "Plain Text Settings",
select MIME and change "Encode Text Using" to "None".
Then change "Automatically Wrap Text at......" to "110" characters.
Click "OK" and "Apply".

I've made the changes you recommended. Will see what this text looks like
when the reply gets posted. Thanks for the reply. Don R.

Hi Carey,

I set my preferences to MIME Quoted Printable and it seems to do the trick. Are there other things I should be considering if using this type format? I really like how it reflows the text to fit the windows size. Setting text wrap to 110 still created unexpected line wraps in my messages.

Try resizing your message window to see how the text above reflows as needed to create a full line of text for each line until the paragraph ends.

Thanks,

Don Rist

Hey, nice tip on the MIME-Quoted Printable. I'll give that setting a whirl and see what happens.
