Outlook Express link delay?

In Outlook Express, why does it take 30 seconds or longer for a link to open
when it is included in an email? Using Win XP Pro, 3 gig Intel CPU and 2 gig
memory. Everything else works quite well and fast??
Why do I have this delay when clicking on a link only in OE?

It's best for you to have your browser open before you click a hyperlink.

I am noticing that you sent this post through Outlook Express 6, meaning
that you read newsgroups off OE.

There is an option under tools>options>maintenance that instructs OE to
compact newsgroups message in the background. Having this selected will
generally drastically slow down OE when clicking on links.

Change that setting if this is the case, quit and restart OE.

And how long does it take to open Internet Explorer if you just click the
Internet Explorer link on your desktop or Start Menu?

Hope this helps. Let us know.
