Outlook Express identities problem

I have two identies that I use regularly on OE. When I download email on one
the other receivves the same messages. This is a new problem that may be
related to "Synchronization" (I can't find a definition of synchronization).
It may also be related to having the box checked that says "Include this
account when receiving mail or synchronizing".

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I have windows 98 & OE 6.0
