outlook express error

when i try to open OE i get this message MSOE.DLL cannot be found i haven,t
added or removed any programs and everything was ok till yesterday any ideas
where i start?
 
Have any updates to Windows / OE been installed since yesterday? What
version of OE are you running? The latest updates to OE V6 have (apparently)
caused problems for some people.

Have you rebooted since yesterday - if not, try rebooting to see if that
resolves the problem.
 
i,m not sure what version i have but it was installed in 2004 , i rebooted
but no luck i also tried system restore. the error message also says OE may
not be installed properly so it does sound like a problem with OE rather than
my pc. i will i have to re-install it all again? unfortunately i haven,t
backed up all my addresses and i am starting to panic now (not sure if this
is any use but i am still able to send and recieve messages through this site)

My answer assumes that your computer has Windows XP and that it uses
the default settings for Outlook Express.

To back up your address book, copy this file to another folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Your User Name>\
Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\
<Your User Name>.wab

To back up your E-mail messages, copy the files in this folder to
another folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\<Your User Name>\Local Settings\
Application Data\Identities\
{A Bunch of Numbers and Letters}\
Microsoft\Outlook Express

You might have to enable viewing of hidden folders to see those files
and folders.

To repair Outlook Express, follow the steps in the "Windows XP Home
Edition and Windows XP Professional" section in this Microsoft
Knowledge Base article:

i have backed up all the addresses thanks, but when i unistalled then
re-installed OE i still have the same problem i contacted my service provider
but the also advised on re-installing then gave me an expensive number to
phone for help which i really dont want to do but i am now getting desperate
i have think done all i can is it time to call in the professionals? or
anything else i can try -yes it was windows xp

1. Check this site, which has lots of OE information:

2. Do a web search for other sites that mention "msoe.dll".

3. Post a message describing the problem in this news group, where OE
experts answer questions:
