outlook express error message -message could not be displayed

Outlook XP worked fine for months but without warning has developed following.

I use Outlook XP normally for a few minutes then after about 7 or 8 message
suddenly locks up and displays "Message could not be displayed" -Outlook
express encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message.Check
your computer for low memory or disk space and try again."
Nothing works and I have to close O XP. If I then immediately go back in all
is fine for a few minutes then same message occurs. The PC is not low on disc
space or memory. Could this be a software conflict ?
I am running an EVESHAM AXIS PC - 18 momnths old - WIN XP, IE 7 with 250GB
hard drive and 3800 processor
My wife has a separate identity on this PC and her Outlook express mail
account is fine.
This is beginning to really annoy me and I am trying to avoid
uninstalling/reinstalling OXP.
any suggetsions really welcome
