Christine

I can't open e-mail short cuts on the web, a message that
no e-mail program is set up pops up. I have OE 6 and it
is working fine. I noticed that the "html editor" and e-
mail box" in the internet option - programs boxes are
empty and there are no options either. When I tried to
install the q828750 security patch it tells me that OE 6
had to be installed. Eventhough I have it, I go to the MS
download to install OE6 again. In the middle of the
download I get a message that some components can't be
installed because of MS logo (I think). Did anyone ever
had this problem and know who to fix it, please?
Thanks so much for your time.
Christine

Hi Christine,

Set Outlook Express as default mail client - Start/Run and type in:
MSIMN.EXE /REG

Restore OE to the E-mail List in Internet Options (Row 9)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/restore_oe_client.reg

Restore Hotmail, Outlook and OE under Programs (Line 250)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Reset OE for Send To , Mail To , Send Mail (Line 64)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.

As for the Logo error that is different. It really has to do with the
IsInstalled value. If you are still wanting/needing to reinstall OE, run
this edit first:

Enable Reinstallation of Internet Explorer or OE (Line 114)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

After running this edit, rename the CatRoot2 folder (Windows\CatRoot2) and
then go to Start/Run and enter
%SystemRoot%\Inf. Locate the MSOE50.INF file. Right click it and select
Install.
