Outlook Express compacting problem

For the second time, Outlook Express has deleted a few months of my inbox
e-mails following "folders compacting"
Help !!! Anybody !!!!
Can I restore deleted e-mails, somehow???
How to stop program from doing this in the future??

There is no "express" in the name of this newsgroup. This newsgroup
is for Outlook, *not* for Outlook EXPRESS. Visit a newsgroup for
Outlook EXPRESS to ask your question.
