outlook express backups

how is backup for emails done with outlook express. I
have been trying to copy it to a CD however the .bdx files
cannor be opened with outlook, the error msg that says the
action must be defined before it's use... do i need a
third party software to do the back up?

Outlook express uses *.dbx files for storage.
